Chimney Sweep for Fair Oaks Homeowners

Fair Oaks presents an unusually mixed picture for a town its size. The area around the Village retains genuinely old building stock, some of it dating to the early 1900s, sitting alongside a large body of custom homes built through the 1970s and 1980s on the bluffs above the river. Those custom builds frequently included oversized masonry fireplaces and, in many cases, two or three separate flues in one chimney stack. Creosote is what is left behind when wood smoke cools on the way up a cold flue. It starts as a light dusting, hardens into a crust, and eventually glazes into a tar-like layer that burns hot enough to crack clay tile. The Sacramento Valley makes this worse than most places: our mild, damp winters mean people burn low and slow rather than hot, which is exactly the condition that deposits creosote fastest. A sweep removes that fuel load before it becomes a flue fire.
